Bag straps are the part nobody thinks about until they hurt. Here's what actually matters.
Width isn't everything
A wider strap spreads weight over more of your shoulder, but only if it's also padded. A wide strap with no padding just gives you a wider red mark.
Adjustability matters more than people think
A strap that's the wrong length changes how the bag sits - too long and it swings and bounces with every step, too short and it rides up under your arm. Being able to adjust it to your actual height and outfit (jacket vs. t-shirt) makes more difference than the padding itself.
Dual straps vs. single strap
Two shoulder straps distribute weight evenly on both sides instead of pulling one shoulder down all day - worth it if you're carrying the bag for hours, less critical for quick errands.
Plexiana uses adjustable, padded dual shoulder straps, built around exactly this - all-day wear, not just the walk from the car.
